June 4, 2013

Dorcas-Room-1.JPGA newly-created classroom in the Sioux Falls Ministry Center has been named The Dorcas Room as a result of a facility-wide naming challenge.

According to Carrie Sustad, Director of Operations at SFMC, the name was chosen from nearly 20 entries. The winning entry was submitted by Helene Vander Werff of Center of Hope.

Dorcas was a disciple in the New Testament whose story is referenced in the book of Acts 9:36-42. Dorcas, which is the Greek translation of Tabitha, was a woman who lived in Joppa. She was known for her good deeds and gifts of mercy, which included making clothing for the poor. When she died, the disciples called for Saint Peter, who came and raised her from the dead.

The Dorcas Room is located on the second floor of the Sioux Falls Ministry Center. It is a multi-purpose classroom that can be used for a variety of functions by the ministries in the building. The room is equipped with a projector for computer and video presentations. In addition, one of the walls is a giant whiteboard.
