ChiliCookoffInsert.jpgThe Sioux Falls Ministry Center will host its Second Annual Celebrity Chili Cook Off on Thursday, October 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Sioux Falls Ministry Center Community Room, located at 225 E. 11th Street.

Six local celebrities will square off in the challenge. The celebrities include: defending champion Pastor Jeff Wheeler of Central Baptist Church; Pastor Kirk Flaa of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church; Pastor Matt Morrison of Embrace Church; Pastor Dennis Lake of First Christian Church; the Pastoral Staff of First Evangelical Free Church and Jay Woudstra, superintendent at Sioux Falls Christian Schools.

Individuals are encouraged to taste samples from each of the celebrity chefs and vote for their favorite recipe. The winning celebrity will receive a traveling trophy. For $10, individuals will receive unlimited chili tasting samples, a light meal, dessert and one voting ticket. The chili will be served in the Community Room, while dessert will be served in the Dorcas Room, which is the ministry center’s new multimedia classroom.

Besides the cook off, tours of the Sioux Falls Ministry Center will be given throughout the night.

According to Carrie Sustad, Director of Operations at the Sioux Falls Ministry Center, the event is a great way for the community to see everything that the Ministry Center has to offer.

"We are very excited to again be hosting this event," Sustad said. "This is a unique, fun way for us to introduce ourselves to our downtown neighbors and the entire Sioux Falls community. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Sioux Falls Ministry Center to open its doors to the community and showcase the wide variety of ways our ministries are reaching out to help people in need."
