Sioux Falls Ministry Center Enters New Area of Ministry

SFMC_Housing_Project-html.jpgThe Sioux Falls Ministry Center is entering into a field of ministry, low income housing.  We are excited to venture into this new area of ministry. This is the perfect addition for our focus on holistic ministry where we seek to share the good news of Jesus through the proclamation of His Word and doing practical deeds to meet people’s various needs.  Why is housing critical?  Without safe and affordable housing there is serious uncertainty in one’s life.  It is a key piece in bringing stability to people.

We are partnering with others in the community through a tax credit project and other programs to build a thirty one unit apartment complex at 812 N. Minnesota Ave.  Construction is scheduled to begin in September with the goal of having occupancy in June of 2014.  This is an income guideline housing project.  Therefore, people will need to meet certain income guidelines to qualify to live in the apartment.  Each resident pays rent but the goal is for it to be affordable rent as it is based on their income.

We will have an onsite staff person that is there to serve those living in the apartment complex.  The staff person will work to connect the people living at the apartment with the various services offered at the Sioux Falls Ministry Center and other services in the city.  Our staff person will have an opportunity to build relationships with the residents and be a support person.  The onsite staff person makes this a unique housing project where we continue to try and care for the whole person not just their housing needs.  Lloyd Companies will handle all the facility management issues.  They have extensive experience in low income housing projects so they are able to provide efficient management.

This is a great opportunity to meet a growing need in our city and continue the mission of the Sioux Falls Ministry Center.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
